Reverend Dr. George E. Wilson
Pastor George E. Wilson began his ministry over thirty-three years ago, serving in urban churches on the south side of Chicago. Professionally, Pastor Wilson brings over twenty-five years of experience with him as a non-profit executive; giving leadership to both national and international initiatives. Most recently as Executive Director of Circle Urban Ministries, Executive Director of US Programs and Senior Director of Global Partnerships with World Vision, a humanitarian organization serving both domestically and internationally. He helped coordinate the humanitarian efforts of World Vision working in New York City after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. He has traveled to sub-Saharan Africa from Botswana to Zambia and shared the platform with Rock Star Bono, from the music group U2, and actor/comedian Chris Tucker in an effort to mobilize churches to fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic and against the stereotypical view associated with HIV/AIDS both domestically and globally.
He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, a Master's in Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, and an earned Doctorate in Ministry from North Park Theological Seminary.
Pastor Wilson is a foremost authority on congregational studies and is a former Fellow of Congregational Studies with the Hartford Institute of Religion and Research. He is a sought after speaker on such issues as Autopsy of The Church, Theology of Hip Hop, Building Effective Leaders and Connecting the Church Internationally, as well as the HIV/AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa. He serves on the Executive Committee of Sustaining Pastoral Excellence within the Evangelical Covenant Church of America. In addition, he is a member of the African American Ministers Association and represents to the Executive Board of the National Ministerium on their behalf; as well as commitments on the boards of other charitable organizations. God has gifted him with the ability to apply biblical principles to current events in a way that is relevant and easily understood by people of all ages. He is a man with a global vision.
He and his wife Hazel have two wonderful sons, George III and Joseph.
